Healing Through Body Awareness

Somatic Therapy for Women 40s-60s+

Somatic therapy is a gentle, mind-body-oriented approach to healing trauma, reducing chronic stress, and helping you reconnect with yourself.

Sometimes we understand what happened to us, yet our body continues to carry the effects.

Our nervous system remembers what our mind has worked hard to move beyond.

This is especially common during midlife, when many women notice that old patterns, unresolved experiences, or long-held ways of coping are asking for our attention in new ways.

Rather than seeing these experiences as something "wrong," we can begin to understand them as invitations to heal.

What Does "Somatic" Mean?

The word somatic comes from the Greek word soma, meaning "the living body."

Somatic therapy recognizes that healing isn't only something we think about—it is something we experience.

Rather than repeatedly telling the story of what happened, we gently notice what is happening right now in your body, emotions, and nervous system.

We move at a pace that feels manageable, allowing healing to unfold without overwhelming you or asking you to relive the past.

How We Work

Together, we'll pay attention to the ways your body communicates through sensations, emotions, movement, breath, and nervous system responses.

As your nervous system becomes more flexible and resilient, many people notice they experience:

  • Greater calm and emotional regulation
  • Less anxiety and chronic stress
  • More connection with themselves and others
  • Increased confidence and resilience
  • Greater freedom, creativity, and possibility
  • A deeper sense of feeling like themselves again

Healing isn't about forcing change.

It's about creating the conditions that allow your brain, body, and nervous system to do what they were designed to do.

Integrating Other Approaches

Every person is different, and therapy is tailored to your unique needs and goals. Somatic therapy may be thoughtfully integrated with:

  • EMDR Therapy
  • Attachment-informed therapy
  • Parts work
  • Self-compassion practices
  • Mindfulness
  • Holistic approaches that support whole-person healing

My role is not to tell your body what it should do.

It is to help you slow down, listen, and support the remarkable wisdom and resilience that are already present within you.
