Reiki & Somatic Touch for Healing

Sometimes called "Psychotherapeutic Reiki" is an approach to holistic healing that combines Reiki with psychotherapy interventions. The Reiki is in service of your therapy goals.

  • It is based on the understanding that trauma, emotions and other experiences can get stuck within our bodies and spirit and impact emotional, mental and physical health.

The unique form of Reiki I offer is:

  • A combination of reiki with co-regulating somatic experiencing touch support
  • Womb Reiki is reiki for women, with skill and understanding of our cyclical, powerful nature and how are womb space stores memories, experiences, creative ideas, ancestral stories, our intuition and creative power to birth not only babies but ideas, projects and ideas
  • trauma informed and attentive to your emotional tolerance
  • offered to support nervous system regulation & widen capacity
  • gently collaborative as you notice & share body-mind connections
  • offered within the context of Somatic Experiencing psychotherapy
  • is relevant and supportive to your specific goals for therapy

We have ongoing conversations of consent, choice, comfort and support

Co-Regulation

The connection between two humans, where one is in a state of calm (with a regulated nervous system)  can encourage another human being's systems to "co-regulate" and feel calmer as well.

It happens through the felt presence of the calm & present person.

The other human being picks up that energy and safe feeling, and has a better opportunity to come into a more regulated state, or resolve what is getting in the way as they move towards that more regulated, flexible state.

Traits that go becoming more regulated is when the person has a range of flexibilty to respond to the actual environment at hand. Physical responses look like a steady heart beat, easy breathing, a stomach/digestion system that can relax and do it's job, muscles that find a little more ease, and bones that move out of a collapsed or constricted shape.

These conditions support trauma healing, and help us thrive!

The term and process of  "co-regulation" is understood in Somatic Experiencing as a significant part of change, peace & balance for the client. The same principle is true in Reiki.

Unwinding & Balancing

When we unwind stress patterns, flow begins to happen naturally.

Flow and the movement of a person's own life energy can move on through.

These are the same goals & benefits of Somatic Experiencing touch/table work.

In a typical Reiki session, often the client lies down on their back on a massage table, or seated in a chair, and a practitioner lightly  places their hands over certain areas of the body (or hovers above without touch) from the crown of the head to the feet.

This is very similar as to how a Somatic Experiencing Touch Practitioner provides touch work.

I have a somatic table in my office, which is the same as a massage table, in order to provide relaxation Somatic Touch work with or without Reiki.

No-touch contact is always a viable option.

Reiki is not a religion, and no spiritual belief is required. It originated as a Japanese healing technique to support relaxation, awareness and stress reduction. We know that it supports nervous system regulation which is necessary for trauma healing.

No. Reiki is never required. Nothing is required actually; we talk about what you need & what you're interested in, and go from there.

The science is in:  nervous system regulation and restoring its flexibility is one hallmark of successful trauma resolution.

Reiki supports nervous system regulation.

My Psychotherapeutic Reiki approach is to support your body to do what it naturally knows how to do - to come into regulation and flow. Given the right conditions, this is possible. This is also exactly what Somatic Therapy proposes and provides.

Reach out to Victoria, we'll talk by phone or via email to connect and schedule an initial assessment. I'm excited to hear from you!
